So after being so happy with the Complex Electro Synths pack, I decided to grab a couple more sample packs. For these I went straight to Prime Loops. I went with the Electro Shoxx and Electro Shoxx 2 packs. So far both of these packs have been greatly satisfying! They are a great way to start a song by grabbing one of the really solid drum loops, or if you need some synths to round out your big drops, or if you just need a top loop or two to make your drums really pop! These packs are going to seriously increase my workflow.
Sweet Electro sickness!
The downside is; Now I’m addicted to Prime Loops! I could drop so much cash there it’s not even funny. They have packs for everything and as I mentioned before, the allure of increased workflow makes me want them a lot. I’ve heard several of the samples in the demos that have been used in major productions, namely Skrillex’.
Of course, at the moment, nothing can supersede my need for Reason 6.5. Right now I work with Reason/Record 5. I am a huge Thor fanatic and DrRex is probably the coolest thing since loop players existed. Speaking of DrRex, ReCycle is another of the products that stands above the sample packs. With ReCycle, I can take my own samples, vocals, etc… and prepare them for DrRex. DrRex can alter the pitch of a loop without altering the tempo, along with a host of other benefits like Groove Capturing. Just grab a groove that you like throw it in DrRex and toss it on your own drums, then viola, you have your sick groove.
Oh I mentioned Thor, which happens to have quite a few refill packs out there, one of which has been #1 on Prime Loops in Electro for about a week now! Here it is
At any rate, I might do a proper review of the sample packs if I have the time this week!
I just purchased the first pack of samples I’ve ever purchased from SoundsToSample.com. I got them for my birthday so I’m real excited to dig in and start making some jacked up Electro House! The sample pack is called, “Complex Electro Synths” and is available on Beatport, SoundsToSample, PrimeLoops, etc…
So far I’ve loved every sample in the pack. I think it’s going to end up being my “goto” source for great samples! I’ll keep you updated here.
After a short vacation to visit my family in Missouri, I’m back in the lab to make some music! Today I’m going to be flirting around with several of my tracks. Mixing is the word for the day. To break it up I might lay down a beat or two, but for the most part it’ll be a lot of listening and tweaking. Here we go!
I recently joined Reverb Nation. Seems like a good place to post material and gain fans. What do you think? Anyone have any experience with Reverb Nation that they would like to share? Please feel free to comment. I would love to hear your opinions on this.
Well today turned into a not-so-productive day. I spent it posting on social networks. I suppose that it could still be considered productive when you think about the fact that promotion is an absolutely essential part of making music for a career. People have to know you’re out there and doing what you’re doing. Then you have to give them a reason to care. Then they actually have to like it.
Edit: As of 5:00pm today we hit our goal of 30 likes on Facebook giving us access to the ‘insights’ and other cool features of having a full on facebook “Page”. Thanks to everyone who helped!
So I put this mix on to salvage the day while I finish emailing and following back and posting to soundcloud and post to the blog. Ok so it sounds moar productive now when I say it out loud!
I was trying to embed it but I couldn’t get it to work! So I just linky. Follow them on Twitter, Facebook, all that.
Anyway these guys are called Whiteqube and they are not only supremely awesome djs/producers, they are actually really cool guys. @bractune lives in LA and @T_Ryan_Arnold lives in Montreal. Hit ’em up if you like their stuff. They’re likely to say, “Thanks!”
